G.A. “Jack” Gillit went to be with the Lord on August 30, 2020. He was born on October 23, 1929 to G.A. and Iva Gillit in Baird, Texas.

After graduating High School in Baird, Jack moved to Ozona where he met the love of his life, Muriel Senne and they married November 21, 1949.

Jack was a kind and loving man and was a servant at heart. He serviced his country in the Air Force with a Honorable discharge in 1955.

He worked for the Crockett County Road Department for many years and worked as a pumper giving up his last well when he was in his 80’s.

Jack loved his community. He spent years delivering Meals on Wheels, visiting the Care Center, serving in his Church and helping people in any way he was able to.

He always had a smile for everyone. He will be missed by so many people.

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, sister Kay Taylor, his brother Billy “Smokey” Gillit.

Jack is survived by his son Jimmy Gillit and wife Kim, grandson Jeffery Gillit and wife Kristen, grandson Stephen Gillit and wife Melanie, granddaughter Ashley Arredondo and husband Gabriel, great grandkids Simon, Jensen, Emilie, Blake, Evan, Isaac, cousin Paul Stroope and wife Shelley, nephew Randy Gillit and wife Pat, niece Paula Gillit, niece Susan McCool and husband Bob, his wonderful friends he considered his family, MaryLou Knox, Bobby Knox, Tracey Knox Preddy and Peggy Knox Logan, so many friends and all the kids who grew up knowing Gops.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 3, at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Ozona. Services will be officiated by Johnny Perkins under direction of Kerbow Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers please donate your time or money to helping the elderly or disadvantaged youth.

The family would like to thank Hospice of San Angelo for all their help and kindness, special thanks to Jolissa, Charlene, Jennifer and Rita.

Jack, you will be greatly missed, we love you.
