Veterans Day next week, tickets on sale for quilt drawing

Body
Veterans Day is coming up next week on Nov. 11. Veterans Day is a wellknown American holiday, but there are also a few misconceptions about it, like how it is spelled or whom exactly it celebrates. When spelling “Veterans Day” it does not have an apostrophe. A lot of people think it is written Veteran’s Day or Veterans’ Day. The holiday is not a day that belongs to one veteran or multiple veterans, which is what an apostrophe implies. It is a day for honoring all veterans, so no apostrophe is needed.

“Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13 The whole armour of God includes truth (Jesus is the truth), the breastplate of righteousness (that righteousness which is of God by faith), the shoes of the gospel of peace (that peace which we have with God through Christ), the shield of faith (that faith which comes from God and is not of the Law), the helmet of salvation (by grace we are saved; not of works) and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God (that Word which is Christ Himself). Every single part of the armor of God has been baptized (submersed) in the blood of the Lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world.

Quilt raffle benefitting Helping Hands for the Elderly

Body
“Hands in Service Quilters” began several years ago when Audrey Glynn displayed her handiwork at a Show and Tell Day at Crockett County Senior Center. As a result of the demonstration, several ladies expressed an interest in learning to quilt or using their knowledge of quilting to benefit others. The group began meeting in a room at the Senior Center, fabric was donated, and ideas began to flow.
