OMS Golf finishes season in Andrews

The OMS Golf Teams concluded their season on May 4 in Andrews.

The boys team had their best tournament of the year, shooting lower than their previous scores to finish sixth out of nine teams.

Max Everett shot a 108 to place 12th out of 50 boys. Seth Childress improved to 115, followed by teammates Levi Bishop, Patrick Hensley and John Cole Childress.

OMS Tennis Teams win district

The OMS Tennis Teams won the District Meet on May 4 in Ozona. Both the Seventh and Eighth Grade Teams were the Overall District Champions.

EIGHTH GRADE RESULTS

Perez, Rodriguez named Athletes of the Year

OHS Seniors Lucy and Rodriguez and Marcus Perez were named Outstanding Athletes of the Year at the 2019 Athletic Banquet Monday at the Crockett County Civic Center.

Perez also won Fighting Heart Awards in Football, Boys Powerlifting and was Boys Basketball Defensive MVP.

A leader on the field and in the gym, Perez received All-West Texas and All-District honors for football, All-District for basketball and was a regional qualifier in powerlifting.

Rodriguez was also named Offensive MVP in Softball, with teammate Ysabella Flores, and won the Fighting Heart Award with her teammates.

In softball she was part of this year's District and Bi-District Championship Team. Rodriguez was also named First Team All-District in softball.

She also competed in basketball and track, where she was an area qualifier.

Lady Lions season ends against Ralls

The OHS Lady Lions Softball season came to an end over the weekend against Ralls in the Area Round of the playoffs.

Ozona lost the first game 4-1 and the second game 14-1. The Lady Lions finish the season 10-6.

Crockett County 4-H Hosts Judging Contest

CROCKETT COUNTY 4-H NEWS

Crockett County 4-H hosted the annual Invitational Judging Contest this Saturday at the Extension Office. Fifty-three youth from seven counties participated in four contests.

In Range Evaluation, Crockett County swept all divisions with Jenna Marshall winning the Senior Division, Audrey Upham winning the Intermediate Division, and Grace Upham winning the Junior Division.

In Plant Identification, Jenna Marshall was first place in the Senior division. Audrey Upham was third place in the Intermediate Division, and Grace Upham was second place in the Junior Division.

The high point overall in Range Evaluation and Plant Identification was Jenna Marshall. Jenna received a custom-made charm donated by Larry Williams.

OHS Golf finishes 11th at regional meet

The OHS Golf Teams finished their seasons at the Region 1-2A Meet held April 22-25 in Odessa.

The Lions finished 11th as a team with a score of

394. Vega, 312, and Farwell, 335, placed first and second.

Senior Riley Williams placed 10th as an individual shooting an 83 the first round and a seasonbest score of 78 the second round for 161 total, just two strokes shy of advancing to the state tournament.

Other team members were: Donovan Hunt, Adam Hopper, Justin Baker and Carson Childress.

Saturday was a great day to be an Ozona Lion!

The Lady Lions Softball Team swept their series against Seagraves with a 16-4 win to become bi-district champions.

Haley Nowell won silver at State VASE in San Marcos! 

Manuel Torralba punched his ticket to the State Track Meet in the 800-meters at the Region 1-2A Meet in Levelland!

Lady Lions gut out win over Marfa

The Ozona Lady Lions Softball completed their regular season with a 9-6 win over Marfa on April 18 in Marfa.

The Lady Lions gutted out a hard fought, 10-inning victory.

Madison Castro played a terrific game behind the plate and went 2-4 at bat.

Reaghan Gonzalez pitched a gem, shutting out the Lady Shorthorns in the final four innings.

Ysabella Flores sparked the winning three runs with a shot to right field scoring two.

. Lions shutout Eagles

Junior Alec Lara led the Ozona Lions Baseball Team in a 15-0 shutout over Van Horn on April 18 at the OHS Baseball Field. Lara pitched five innings and had 11 strikeouts with nine first pitch strikes. He also had two hits. Arlie Hernandez had two hits and two RBIs. Jacob Childress and Marco Rodriguez each had two RBIs. Jesse Vega had four hits. The Lions fell to Eldorado, 9-3, on April 16 at the OHS Baseball Field. Pitcher Justin Yeager had two strikeouts and 11 first pitch strikes. Jose Dominguez had four strikeouts and 17 first pitch strikes. The Lions are 15-7-1 overall.
