Twelve Lady Lions qualify for Regional Powerlifting

Twelve Lady Lion Powerlifters have qualified for the Region I-Division III Powerlifting Meet.

Those qualifiers are: Roslynn Mendez, Kassidy Mc-Cutcheon, Esperanza Castillo, Ysabella Flores, Isaura Lopez, Krista Dominguez, Kaitlynn Tambunga, Kayleigh Hernandez, Ashley Moran, Kendra Sarabia, Kayla Sarabia and Reagan Barrera.

The regional meet will be held March 1 in Seagraves.

The OHS Powerlifting Teams competed at the Reagan County Invitational Saturday in Big Lake.

The Lady Lions placed third as a team.

Lions come up short to Buffs, Blizzards

The OHS Lions lost to Forsan, 60-35, on Jan. 29. Score by quarters: Ozona - 11 5 6 13 - 35; Forsan - 11 23 13 15 - 60. Scoring: Riley Williams 3, Zachary Talamantez 2, Marco Rodriguez 2, Justin Yeager 3, Jesse Vega 2, Sebastian De La Cruz 2, Abraham Rodriguez 6, Marcus Perez 10 and Jordan Martin 2. Also playing: Colby Mendez. The Lions lost to Winters on Feb. 1, 59-36. Score by quarters: Ozona - 5 14 4 13 - 36; Winters - 10 22 17 10 - 59. Scoring: Alec Lara 10, Williams 2, M. Rodriguez 2, Yeager 6, A. Rodriguez 10, Perez 6. Also playing: Talamantez, Vega, De La Cruz, Mendez and Martin. Ozona is 6-19 overall and 1-6 in district play.

Two Lions named All-West Texas

Two Ozona Lions, Abraham Rodriguez and Joe Salas, were named to the San Angelo Standard-Times Class 2A All-West Texas Football Team.

Salas was a defensive end for the Lions. The junior finished the season with 49 tackles and six sacks in helping lead Ozona to their seventhconsecutive playoff birth. He was also first-team all-district selection in District 3-2A Division I.

Lady Lions Powerlifting win Monahans Meet

MONAHANS - The OHS Lady Lions Powerlifting Team got their second overall win in a row at the Sandhills Invitational.

The meet was comprised of teams from all class divisions.

Team totals – 1. Ozona, 53 points; 2. Monahans, 38; 3. Andrews, 30; 4. Fort Stockton, 26; 5. Big Spring, 17; 6. Denver City, 7; 7. Mc-Camey, 7; 8. Alpine, 4; 9. Kermit, 3; 10. Pecos, 0.
