Jettie Proctor Adcock

Jettie Proctor Adcock, 82, of Ozona, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2017, in the Crockett County Care Center. Jettie was born February 5, 1935 in Pioneer, Texas to John and Eula Proctor. She married Raymond Adcock of Brownfield, Texas on July 27, 1958. Jettie graduated from Tahoka, Texas in 1953. She attended business college and began work in Brownfield, Texas. A co-worker introduced her to the love of her life in 1956. She was a member of the Ozona Church of Christ. Jettie was preceded in death by her parents, one brother and two sisters.

Lucille Farmer McWhorter

Lucille Farmer McWhorter, 91, of Eldorado, Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 6, 2017 in the Schleicher County Nursing Home. Lucille was born August 30, 1926 in Weatherford, Texas, to Louie Henry and Annie Rebecca Farmer. She married Robert L. (Bob) McWhorter of Eldorado on January 28, 1967. Lucille graduated from Weatherford High School in 1944 and from North Texas University, Denton, Texas in 1948 with a Bachelor of Music Degree. She came to Eldorado in the fall of 1948 and taught there for five years before moving to Ozona and teaching there until her marriage in January, 1967. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Eldorado where she directed the music for several years. Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brother, Rev. Louie Farmer, Jr. and sister, Mary Edna Farmer. Survivors include niece, Reva Daniel (Gerald) of Clinton, Miss.

Carol Lynn Booth Buie

Carol Lynn Booth Buie, 77 of San Angelo, Texas passed away on November 16, 2017 in her home in San Angelo, Texas. Carol was born in Houma, Louisiana to William and Eddrest Booth on July 26, 1940. She married Fred Garland Buie on December 24, 1960 and they were married for 50 years on December 24, 2010. Fred passed away one month after their 50th wedding anniversary. Carol worked as a Hairdresser for 25 years and was extremely passionate about her work. During Carol and Fred’s marriage they owned several businesses including a furniture store and a monogramming shop.

They were both house parents at Buckner’s Boys Ranch near Lake LBJ for many years and have stayed in touch with many of the young men they mentored, one of whom went on to be a very successful attorney in Oklahoma.

Donald 'Fred' Mahannah

Funeral services for Donald "Fred" Mahannah, 82, of Ozona, Texas were at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2017. The Rev. Donald Longoria officiated along with Graham Childress of the Masonic Lodge.

Fred was born June 9, 1935, 28 miles north of Grenville, New Mexico. Fred went to be with the Lord on Nov. 16, 2017.

Fred was an inspector for the Texas Department of Transportation for 36 years. He was an active Mason for 46 years.

He was a faithful husband of 60 years and a wonderful daddy to three daughters.

Survivors include his wife, Ladyne, three daughters, Paula Broussard, Sandra Gonzales, and Valerie Mahannah, eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers include Roger Lyons, Aldo Gonzales, Mike Gonzales, Bruce Broussard, William Lindley, Dustin Mahannah and Honorary Pallbearer is Raymond P. (Bear) Borrego.

Ollie 'Marvine' Byrnes

Ollie "Marvine" Byrnes, age 76, passed away peacefully, Thursday, November 9, 2017 in Ozona, Texas. She was born in Rankin, Texas on October 11, 1941 to Bert and Ollie Belle (Wall) Potts.
Marvine was a faithful member of Southside Baptist Church in Monahans for over 40 years. She took great joy in delivering the taped sermons to shut-in members each week. She was a very gifted and talented crocheter and those who knew her very seldom ever left without one of her special crocheted pot holders or hot pads.
Marvine worked many years for Mitchell Food and then as a sitter for the elderly. She loved each and every one of the individuals she sat with.
Marvine is preceded in death by her parents, her brother: Buddy Potts; sister: Barbara West; and grandson: Casey Brewer.

Eglantina 'Titina' Valdez Gonzalez

Eglantina left to be with our Lord God and Savior Jesus Christ. Her friends called her "Titina." She passed away Friday, Oct. 27, 2017.
She was small in stature, but tall with pride. Her work ethic was unmeasurable. She was a tireless soul, but she taught us that we have to work for our salvation just as hard as we work on our business.
If you really love what you do, then you are blessed not to call it work. She served the Ozona Community and its visitors with honor for four decades.
Preceding her in death were her sisters Eustolia "Tola" Valdez Gonzalez and Ludivina Valdez.
She is survived by four brothers, Roque, Israel, Jesus and Arnoldo Valdez, and two sisters, Elodia Valdez Perez and Marisela Valdez Martinez.
She is also survived by her son, Bryan Anthony Valdez, and grandchildren, Savannah Grau Valdez, Bryan Anthony Valdez II and Isabella Maria Juanita Valdez.

Johnnie Mae Easterwood

Johnnie Mae Easterwood passed from this Earth on November 2, 2017, at the age of 88. She now walks with her Lord and Savior.
Johnnie Mae was born on November 15, 1928, to John and Ida Mae West in Cheapside, Texas. In 1938, her family moved to Eldorado, Texas, where she graduated high school. She later married Doyle Ward Easterwood. Together, with their three children, they lived in Ozona, Texas, for some time prior to retiring to Aransas Pass, Texas. Johnnie Mae was a full-time homemaker and doting and loving mother and grandmother. She was very creative. Her grandchildren loved her bedtime stories that she would handwrite and illustrate.

Evangelina Perez Borden, 86, died November 4, 2017 in Spofford, Texas. A graveside was held on Monday at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Ozona, Texas.
She was born on September 23, 1931 to Enrique and Santos Perez.
She is survied by two sons Gary Medley (Joanie), Bill Medley (Michelle), one daughter, Barbara Hearne (Robert), six grandchildren Amber Wright, Jessica Medley, Candice Martinez, Zachary Medley, Shelbie Juarez, Madison Rojas and seven great-grandchildren, Toby, Julie and Austin Jenks, Bryce Medley, Amaya Martinez, Paola Juarez and Riley Rojas.

Brenda Fish

Brenda Fish, 64, left her earthly body on Tuesday, October 31, 2017. Brenda was born on October 4, 1953 in Sonora, Texas to Bob Granger and Ora Faye Crites. She was a dedicated wife to James M. (Jim) Fish of Ozona, Texas.
Her and Jim's relationship grew strong over their 38-plus years, surviving the many setbacks and pitfalls of life by always seeking out solutions and ever moving forward. Jim’s love for Brenda sustains him still and reminds him… “it is better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all."

Socorro Varela Maldonado

Socorro Varela Maldonado, age 85, passed away October 25, 2017, at the Crockett County Care Center after a yearlong fight with cancer. She was a lifelong residence of Ozona, Texas. She was born Jan. 19, 1932 in Ozona, Texas to Pablo Varela and Consuelo Sarabia. Survived by daughters, Cuquita Reina, of Ozona and Lydia Varela, of Dallas, Texas, son-in-law, Armand Gene Reina, of Ozona and grandchildren, Gene Reina and Kathy Reina and six great-grandchildren. Socorro a devoted Christian who loved and served the Lord with all her heart and soul. She was a senior member of Templo Siloe Assembly of God Church, were she served in many capacities in the church. Templo Siloe was the center of Socorro’s Christian Life. The family would like to thank the staff of Crockett County Care Center for their loving care provided to Socorro during her stay. Also a profound thanks for your prayers and donations, especially Templo Siloe congregation for all your support.
