Ida "Belle" Burks

Ida "Belle" Burks, 77, passed away on Feb 17, 2014 at Hendricks Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. She is survived by three sons, Guinn Burks and wife Brenda of Crane, Texas, Travis Burks and wife Bridget of Twenty-Nine Palms, Calif., Scotty Burks and wife Shelia of Round Rock, Texas and daughter Peggy Bullard, of Abilene, Texas; five grandsons, four granddaughters, three great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Ida Mae Downs, one son, Wayne Wood, three sisters and one brother. A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 1, at the Ozona Church of Christ. Her remains will be given to the family. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the ASPCA or animal shelter as she loved cats and dogs

Sue Ellen Black Crawford was born Oct. 3, 1963 in Ozona, Texas. She died Feb. 19, 2014 at age 50, at home, surrounded by family. Ellie Sue, as she was called by many, including her grandchildren, grew up in a ranching family, learning early to appreciate that way of life. She attended school in Ozona, graduating from OHS, then from Sul Ross University, as an elementary teacher. In 1985 she married  Brad Wilson, graduated from  college and moved to Arthur Co., in the Sandhills of Nebraska. There her three girls, Weslee, Wendy and Whitney were born. For several years Sue Ellen taught school as the only teacher in a one room school house on the Wilson Ranch. She later moved back to Ozona and began teaching second grade, loving her students as if they were her own children. In 1998, she married Terry Crawford. Sue Ellen loved life and fought a six year battle

Peter Charles Noack, 65, of Ozona passed away Saturday, Feb. 15 at his residence. No services are planned. Survivors include his wife Linda Noack of Ozona, sons Jason Mewbourn of Luling,Texas and Byron Bailey of Galena,
Kan., and daughter Tammy Sierra of Yoakum, Texas and brother Alvin "Buddy" Noack of Cuero, Texas.

Virginia Gay McMurrey Bishop, 82, of Ozona, Texas, went to be with her Heavenly Father on February 1, 2014. She was born October 7, 1931 in San Jose, Texas to Douglas and Lillian McMurrey. She graduated from Alpine
High School and attended Sul Ross State University. Virginia married Joe Tom Bishop on March 9, 1952. She loved living her life as a country girl beside her  loving husband of 39 years. Virginia's favorite pastimes included following the Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs. She was a member of First Baptist Church Ozona. Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Joe Tom and son Tommy Bishop. She is survived by her son Bailey Bishop of Ozona, her daughter Jackie Necessary  and son-in law Cecil Necessary of Ozona, her three beautiful granddaughters, Michelle Burdick and her husband Brady of Coleman, Texas; Amanda Bishop of

Esperanza E. Vargas, 69, of Ozona died Friday, Jan. 24, 2014 in Ozona. Funeral services were Sat. Jan. 25 in Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Burial followed in Cedar Hill Cemetery. Survivors include husband Estalfo Vargas, Sr. of Ozona, sons David Vargas and wife Cynthia of Ozona, Paul Vargas and wife Farah of Cleburne, and Estalfo Vargas, Jr. and wife Joyce of Hutto, and sisters Manie Galvan of Kerrville, and Elena Alvarez of Ozona and granddaughter Arianna Vargas of Ozona

Basil Eugene Dunlap

Basil Eugene Dunlap, 86, died Thursday, January 9, 2014, at Abilene Regional Medical Center. He was born July 30, 1927 in Ozona. Graveside services were Monday, January 13, at Burkett Cemetery in Coleman, Texas with David Wallace officiating. Arrangements by Stevens Funeral Home. Mr. Dunlap grew up and attended school in Ozona. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was a rancher and raised Charlois cows. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mary Dunlap; a son, Basil Ray Dunlap; sister, Wanda Stuart; newphew, Gregory Stuart and one niece, Carolyn Wilson, all of Ozona. He is survived by his wife, Mary Dunlap; adopted son, Ross Burdick and daughter, Bridget Dunlap. Memorials may be made to the Burkett Church of Christ, West Texas Rehabilitation Center or Coleman County Medical Center

Senovio “Sam” Ortiz

Senovio “Sam” Ortiz, 66, passed away January 5, 2014 surrounded by all those who loved him deeply. Services are 2 p.m. today, Jan. 8, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with burial following in Lima Cemetery.
Senovio was born on May 17, 1947 in Bakersfield, Calif. He moved to Ozona in 1977 where he met and married the love of his life, Inez Ortiz. He gallantly and courageously battled cancer for the last eight years. Senovio is survived by his loving wife Inez Ortiz. Surviving children include his son, Ernesto Borrego (Arlington, Texas), daughters, Josie Mendoza (Ozona, Texas), Dorothy Perez (Arlington, Texas), Virginia  Magaña (Midland, Texas),
