Mary Lue Morrow

Mary Lue Morrow died Sept. 20, 2019. Graveside services were Sunday, Sept. 22, at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Arrangements by Kerbow Funeral Home. Lue was born Aug. 12, 1948 in California. She served the Ozona Volunteer Fire Department as a dispatcher for many years. She is survived by her husband, Tom, sons Brian Thomas, John Michael and Shawn Stephen, sisters Nancy Lee Bettridge and Linda Sue Morrow, 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. OBIT: Larry Neal Arledge

Larry Neal Arledge, age 90 of Pandale and Ozona passed peacefully on September 3, 2019. He was a beloved husband and son, preceded in death by his loving wife Sue and his parents Willie and Eva Arledge and great-granddaughter Jacey Smathers. 

Larry was a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He was a lifetime rancher in Val Verde county who found his purpose in loving and nurturing the land, his livestock and his family. 

He graduated from Ozona High School in 1945 and began his ranching career. In the summer of 1947, a chance meeting led to a lifelong love affair. He and Mary Sue Harvey married in 1948. Together, they worked hard and built a beautiful life with three devoted daughters and so many wonderful friends. 

Larry was a lifelong member and former director of the Rio Grande Electric Co-op, was president of the school board and superintendent of the Pandale School and an integral member of the Pandale community.

Wayne Lee Patterson

Wayne Lee Patterson passed away on September 1, 2019 with his loving wife, Jan, by his side. He was born April 21, 1945 in Hill County Texas to Pat and Lois Patterson.

He attended Abbott High School where he excelled in all sports, especially basketball. He was selected to play on the Texas All Star Team for both basketball and football. The US Army interrupted his collegiate career, when was drafted into the Vietnam Conflict. He was stationed at Fort Meyer in Washington, D.C.

Maria Ramirez De Hoyos

Maria Ramirez De Hoyos, age 65, passed away on Friday, August 23, surrounded by her family.

Maria, known as Laura to her family and friends, was born on October 13, 1953 in Ozona, Texas to the late Eudelia and Jesus Ramirez.

Laura loved children, she began working for Head Start as a cook in 1998 and decided to work her way up and eventually became the director from 2003-2004.

Laura is survived by her children, daughters, Janis De Hoyos, Carla De Hoyos and her son, Juan Carlos “Tater” De Hoyos, of Ozona; two grandsons, Jon David De Hoyos (Zoe) and Greg De Hoyos (Debora), both of Ozona; two great-grandchildren, Lukas John De Hoyos and Gracelynn Rae De Hoyos; brothers, Jesus “Spider” Ramirez (Mary), Braulio “Cache” Ramirez (Lisa), both of Ozona, and Carlos Ramirez, of Benbrook, Texas. She is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a multitude of friends.

Sandra Jean Perez

Sandra Jean Perez, of Ozona, died Tuesday, August 20, 2019.

She was the daughter of Jose and Mary Castro Borrego and the loving wife of Romeo Perez, Jr. She was born in Ozona on May 21, 1963.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Stevie Borrego and sister Sylvia Borrego.

She is survived by her husband, sons Dominique Perez, of Ozona, Romeo Perez III and Nick Perez and wife Tissie, all of Midland, four grandchildren, Kerstin Perez, Ariana Vaquera, Zoey and Owen Perez, three brothers and their families, Jose Jr., Carlos C. and Edward C. Borrego. She also leaves behind numerous cousins, nieces and nephews that she dearly loved.

Services were Friday, August 23, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with burial following in Lima Cemetery. Arrangements by Kerbow Funeral Home.

Martha Elizabeth “Beth” Rumbaugh

Martha Elizabeth “Beth” Rumbaugh went to be with our Lord, in the Covenant Hospital SICU on July 22nd in Lubbock, TX at the age of 71.

Beth is survived by her mother, Corinne Gibson of Ozona; devoted husband, Jackie Rumbaugh; sons, Chris Rumbaugh of Dallas, Joshua Rumbaugh of Big Lake; sister Rosalind Williams of Ozona. She is preceded in death by her father Millard Gibson, of Hale Center, TX.

Beth was born on December 21, 1947 in Plainview to Millard and Corinne Gibson, living in Hale Center. She graduated from Hale Center High School. She then obtained degrees in the field of Education from Sul Ross State College in Alpine (Bachelor’s) and West Texas State University in Canyon (Master’s). In total, she taught for 22 years, before retiring.

Leticia Yvonne Ortiz-Hussain

Leticia Yvonne Ortiz-Hussain passed away on July 2, 2019. She was born May 21, 1981 to Mary Ortiz and Memo Ortiz.

Leticia was a 1999 graduate of Ozona High School and a 2003 graduate of Angelo State University. She loved life and her family.

Survivors include her mother, Mary Ortiz, father, Memo Ortiz, sister, Eloisa Ortiz and Alex Medina, husband Zulfi Hussain and their precious son, Xander James Hussain, and nieces and nephews, Trinity, Isaac, Timothy and Jaxon.

A Memorial Service was held Friday, July 19, 2019 at Our Lady Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Father Hilary Ihedioha, officiating.

A Celebration of her Life was held Thursday, July 25, 2019, at Noah’s Event Center in Plano.

Terry W. Dickerson

Terry W. Dickerson, 68, of Ozona, TX, passed away July 11, 2019, in Santa Fe, N.M. Raised in Granbury, Texas, he graduated from Granbury High School in 1969. After graduation he attended classes at Lubbock Christian College. He also worked in pipeline construction before he became a professional firefighter for the city of Euless, Texas. He then attended classes in Firefighting at Tarrant County Jr. College.

He later had the opportunity to work on construction of the Trans-Alaskan Pipeline in Fairbanks, Alaska before settling down to ranch in Crockett and Val Verde counties for 15 years. Most recently, he worked as a Landman in the oil and gas industry until his retirement.

Terry never met a stranger, and he was widely loved and respected. He was fortunate to spend 46 years with the woman he loved.
