Jonny Glen Jones Johnson

Jonny Glen Jones Johnson, 92, of Ozona, Texas went to be with her Lord and Saviour on November 14, 2019 with her family by her side.

Jonny was born to John Wesley and Maggie Jones in Chillicothe, Texas on October 26, 1927.

Jonny inspired many with her positive and cheerful outlook on life. On May 21, 1951 she married the love of her life, Calvin and they had three children.

Jonny was by nature a creative person, bringing her special touch to everything from painting and drawing to cooking meals for her family and friends. As a renowned artist in West Texas, she has art in 23 states and four countries. She was best known for her contagious smile and bringing to life the stories she told. As a woman of God, she always stood true to her faith. Jonny was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.

James Lee (Jimmy) Barbee

James Lee (Jimmy) Barbee

James Lee (Jimmy) Barbee of Fort Stockton, Texas died in his home on Tuesday, November 12, 2019 at the age of 92.

He was born August 6, 1927 in Fort Collins, Colorado. At the age of 17 his mother signed for him to join the Navy as a Seabee. He served in the Navy on two ships, the USS Palaw and the USS Midway. He also served at the Battle of Iwo Jima and Okinawa. Throughout his career he received medals for Good Conduct, China Medal, American Area Asiatic, Pacific Area, Philippine Liberation, European African Area, and the Victory WWII Medal. He finished his Navy career in Norfolk, VA as a deep sea diver. He went on to become a Major in the West Texas Civil Air Patrol, Group 16. He was also a Group Commander, a Colonel, in the Confederate Air Force.

After his military career, he pursued a love of knife making. Barbee Knives became a sought after knife not only in West Texas but also worldwide.

Marion Lois Ward Childress

Marion Lois Ward Childress of Ozona, Texas passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the age of 82.

She was born in Malverne, Long Island, New York to Charles Russell and Hildagard Rebekah Haight Ward. She and her older brother Emil Russell were raised in Jordan Village, Waterford, Connecticut. She graduated from Williams Memorial Institute in New London, Connecticut in 1955.

In February of 1960 she met Graham Hugh Childress of Ozona, Texas while he was stationed at the Naval Base in New London, Connecticut. They were married on June 18, 1960 at the Naval Base Chapel in New London, Connecticut. After his Naval career in 1967, they moved to the Block Y Ranch in Dryden, Texas where they settled and started a family.

Cynthia (Cindy) Ann Hopkins Markley passed away at her residence in Cedar Park, Texas, October 21,2019. She was born October 7, 1953 in San Angelo, Texas to Jerry and Jackie Hopkins formerly of Sonora. She is survived by her husband Michael Markley of Cedar Park, sister Ronda Stuart and husband Jeffrey of Ozona, brother Wade Hopkins and wife Carolyn of Dallas. She is preceded in death by her father Jerry Hopkins of Roosevelt, Texas, and nephew Justin Caleb Browne Stuart of Ozona. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Family will have private service at a later date. Memorials can be made to your favorite charity.

Pedro Villa

Pedro Villa passed away October 29, 2019. He was born October 19, 1932 in Crystal City, Texas.

Funeral services were Saturday, Nov. 2, at Our Lady Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Interment followed at Ceder Hill Cemetery. Arrangements were by Kerbow Funeral Home.

He was a ranch foreman and a member of the Catholic Church.

He enjoyed being around his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. His love for his family was unmeasured.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Ludivina A. Villa; parents, Margarita and Felix Villa; sister, Inez Infante, and grandson, Caleb Villa.

Beverly Preddy was called home on October 18, 2019. She was born April 2, 1941 in Big Spring. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles and her parents Royce and Ellen Kendrick Johnson and son-in law Everts Dees. She was a long time member of the Ozona Church of Christ and ran Preddy’s Tire Service and B&C Automotive with her husband for many years. She is survived by her son Mike Preddy and wife Ninfa, her daughter Michelle Dees, her brothers Bobby, James and Robert Johnson, sister Jessie, six grandchildren plus her special fur baby “Molly.” The family requests donations to a charity of choice. Virginia M. Hubbard died October 18, 2019 in Ozona. Funeral services were Monday October 21 at the First Baptist Church in Ozona with burial following in Cedar Hill Cemetery. She was born October 31, 1926 in California. She married Perry Hubbard on June 8, 1947. Perry preceded her in 2010. She was a secretary for the District engineer of TxDOT for many years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She is survived by her son Steve of Ozona, daughter Connie Hall of Ruidoso, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. James Brock Hoover

James Brock Hoover (affectionately known by family and friends as Rusty or PawPaw), 73, died peacefully in his sleep on October 13, 2019. He had struggled with wear and illness after a very fruitful life and is now at rest.

As a father of two he leaves his loving family, daughters Lori Phan and Tracy Mann and their children; grandsons Brandon Brock, 22, and Joshua Nathan Lee, 20, and six granddaughters, Miranda Chaienne, 22, Siona Leigh, 13, Catherine Cozette, 13, Elleandra Hayden, 10, Samantha Jayden, 5, and Penelope Dylilah, 4. JB was also blessed with two great- granddaughters Lilliana Renae Grace, 2, and Adilynn Riley Nicole, 3 weeks.

James Brock is also survived by his brother, John Temple Hoover and many loving cousins and friends in Ozona, Texas.

William ‘Bill’ White

William “Bill” White, age 67, passed away on Sunday, October 6, 2019. Funeral Services were held Thursday, October 10, 2019 at the Trinity Church in Stamford, Texas with Dr. Robert Wingrove and the Rev. Rosco McCoy officiating. Burial followed in the Bethel Lutheran Church Cemetery at Ericksdahl Community in Avoca, Texas under the direction of Tankersley Funeral Home in Stamford, Texas.

Bill was born September 18, 1952 to Arthur D. White Sr. and Lucille (Crisp) White in Del Rio, Texas. He graduated high school from Comstock high school in Comstock, Texas

He was a self-employed construction contractor. Bill lived in Comstock, Texas until two years ago when he moved to Lueders, Texas.

Bill loved the sunlight and the adventures of the outdoors. He was an avid outdoorsman.

Patsy Humphries Hester

Patsy Humphries Hester passed away on Sept. 30, 2019 in Corpus Christi.

She was born on Aug. 5, 1963 in Welder, Texas to David and Gladys Humphries and was raised in Comstock. She and her husband Guy raised their family in Ozona before moving to Corpus Christi a year ago.

Patsy was preceded in death by her parents and her grandson Anthony Hester. She is survived by her husband Guy Hester of Corpus Christi, her sister Wanda Matthews of Del Rio, brother David Humphries of Ozona and daughter Susan Armstrong and husband Willis of Ozona. She is also survived by her son Shane Hester and wife Tammy; grandson Dakota Hester and great-grandson Zach Hester all of Corpus Christi.

Services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Ozona at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 19, 2019.
