A new jail, a new fire department and a new wellness center were all discussed during Monday’s regular commissioners’ court meeting. The commissioners met with officials from DRG Architects, of San Antonio, on the construction and building of a new county jail. Currently, Crockett County Jail is only able to hold prisoners for 72-hours. Sheriff’s deputies have to transport and pay for prisoners to be housed out of county, mainly in Upton County.
