BREAKING: Bond conditions changed on Ozona Fire Chief, Secretary/Treasurer

Changes have been made on the bond conditions for Ozona Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief Brian Morrow and Secretary/Treasurer Georganna Lynn Morrow.  

During a court hearing Wednesday, Dec. 18, 112th District Judge Pete Gomez ruled that Brian Morrow and Georgia Morrow must surrender all financial documents in their possession, including bank statements, credit cards and debit cards. Gomez also suggested that an audit be conducted by a certified account.

All financial statements and cards were ordered to be turned over to Fire Department President Ryan Mason.

OBIT: Annamarie Castillo Fierro

On Tuesday, December 10, 2019 Annamarie Castillo Fierro, loving daughter and mother of two, passed away at the age of 39.
Annamarie was born on December 16, 1979 in San Angelo, TX to Thomas and Rosa Fierro. She graduated class of 1998 from Ozona High School. She raised two daughters, Rosamaria and Joey Ann with former husband Joey R. Arredondo.
Annamarie had a passion for the outdoors. She loved going to the river, spending time with her family and having cookouts. She will be remembered as a loving mother, a good sister and a great friend.
Anna was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa. She is survived by her two daughters Rosamaria and Joey Ann, her father Thomas, her sisters Michele, Victoria, Christina and several cousins and nieces.
Funeral services are pending.

BREAKING: Ozona Volunteer Fire Department issues statement about indictments against fire chief, secretary/treasurer

Some of the officers of the Ozona Volunteer Fire Department issued the following statement on their Facebook page Friday night after indictments against Fire Chief Brian Morrow and Secretary/Treasurer Georganna Lynn Morrow were made public.

"We the members and officers of the Ozona Fire Dept did not bring these allegations or charges. We support our Fire Chief and Secretary. All moneys are approved and have been approved from the start."

Ozona Volunteer Fire Department Fire Chief and department secretary/treasurer were arrested and charged with theft from a nonprofit organization Friday.

Fire Chief Brian Morrow and Secretary/Treasurer Georganna Lynn Morrow were indicted by a Crockett County Grand Jury on Nov. 25.

Brian Morrow was arrested on Thursday, Dec. 12, and Georganna Morrow was arrested Friday, Dec. 13. Both were released on $10,000 each personal recognizance bonds.

OBIT: John Doyle Shaw

John Doyle Shaw of Barnhart passed away on November 28, 2019. Graveside services were held at Cypress Creek Cemetery, Leakey, Texas, on Saturday, November 30. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 7 at 2 p.m. at the Barnhart Community Center.
Doyle was born August 22, 1943, in San Antonio, Texas. Doyle grew up living in various locations while his father served in the military.
He married Frances Hanson on January 28, 1962, in Uvalde, Texas. They met through Frances’ mother, Oddie Lee, who always said that if she was younger, he would have been the man for her. But, given her age, she was happy to welcome him as her son-in-law.
Doyle enjoyed fishing, panning for gold, his grandchildren and great-granddaughters, and his family and friends. Recently, he was delighted to present a few sermons at his church while they were waiting for a new minister. His church family was very important to him.

OBIT: Jacob William Scott

Jacob William Scott, 30, passed away on Thursday, November 28, 2019 at St. David’s Hospital in Austin, Texas after complications from a brain stem stroke.
Jake was born on May 29, 1989 to Darryl and Rita Simmons Scott in San Angelo. He was raised in Fort Stockton, Texas.
Jake married his best friend and love of his life, Park Preddy Scott, on December 17, 2011. Their daughter, Piper Mae, was born September 26, 2012. Jake shared a very special bond with his Piper Mae.
Jake was a talented artist, having his work displayed at San Angelo’s Art in Uncommon Places Pop Art Exhibit. He also used this talent in his career as a hair stylist at A-Rock Salon.
Jake enjoyed the company of his many friends, loving family, and many pets he and Piper shared through the years.
Jake was a member of the Church of Christ.
