OMS welcomes Wounded Warriors

WOUNDED WARRIORS with the Reel Thanx program in Midland stopped at Ozona Middle School Friday for lunch on their way to Del Rio for a fishing trip. Cafe Next Door, Sonic, Corba Jones and Amy Rodriquez assisted with food, NJHS students hosted the group, OMS Students welcomed them and the OVFD escorted them into town.

Memorial Day Monday, Stockman deadline Friday

The annual Memorial Day ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, May 28, at the Veterans Memorial by Lima and Cedar Hill Cemeteries.

Everyone is invited to take the time on this special day to honor all of the fallen heroes

The public is also invited to attend and place flags on veterans' graves after the ceremony or at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 27.

Business of the Month: Country Club View Apartments

Brinton Investments, LLC, owned by Mark and Carol Brinton, purchased Country Club View Apartments in December 2017.

“We felt an immediate connection to the community and are excited about the opportunities in Ozona,” said Carol Brinton, owner. “We just completed the renovation of all 19 units and our next project is to re-pave the parking lot. Upgraded laundry facilities are also in the works. Our current tenants are mostly related to oil field and corporate workers, but we would like to interest local residents to come check us out as well. Each apartment has two bedrooms, both furnished with queen beds, night stands, a walkin closet and one full-sized bath is provided.”

U.S. Senate Candidate Beto O’Rourke will be in Ozona for a Town Hall Meeting at 7 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at Sonic, 704 E. 14th St.

Congressman O’Rourke is the Democratic candidate running against U.S. Senator Ted Cruz, R-Texas.

Ozona Country Club is hosting a Three-Person Golf Scramble at 1 p.m. May 19 at the club located at 207 Country Club Drive in Ozona.

Registration fee is $150 (100 percent payout), Mulligans (optional) $10 per person, Birdies (optional) $30 per team for holes #3 and #12.

Community Helpers Day

THE CROCKETT COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY HOSTED COMMUNITY HELPERS DAY on April 10. OES First-Graders visited the library and met with county officials, Crockett County EMS personnel, Crockett County Animal  Control and Crockett County Extension Office employees, Crockett County Librarians, CCCCSD Administrators and Ozona Firefighters. They also did a craft and had a story time.

Judging teams compete in Hackamore Ranch Contest

The Crockett County 4-H Range Evaluation Teams competed at the Hackamore Ranch Contest on Saturday.

The Junior Team of Audrey Upham, Mia Cruz, Kailyn Preddy and Grace Upham won the meet.

Audrey Upham was the top individual. Mia Cruz placed third and Kailyn Preddy finished fourth as individuals.
