Students make wonderful works of art

Colors fill pages as little hands dip paint brushes and grab for chalk. There is no right or wrong to the drawings being made, just a flow of creativity as the group of children work to glue, paint and put together their works of art.

Jack Bentley, DCP Midstream Construction Supervisor, was honored with a surprise 50-year service award celebration at the DCP Midstream office in Ozona on Oct. 8. He was also given a distinguished honor by County Judge Fred Deaton. Deaton declared Oct. 8, 2013 Jack Bentley Day in honor of Bentley’s many years of service to the Crockett County oil and gas industry. Several friends and family were there to surprise him. Bentley and his wife Pauline reside in Ozona. Jack’s story begins 51 years ago when he was 23. Bentley was completing his duty to our country via the Navy. He came to Ozona looking for employment. At that time, his father was a supervisor with Delta Drilling and the plans to build the Ozona Gas Plant were underway.

Homecoming was a huge success. Great bonfire, wonderful parade, successful game and a beautiful queen and her court. We are proud of you, Sierra, and proud of the students and their work. Halloween is nearly here. It is always fun to see all the kids in their costumes. There are already a lot of houses decorated. Take a little drive around town and see all the cute yards. Then come out to the center and see the Halloween spooks.
