Bingo Social Monday

BY BRENDA NEWTON

The time is passing way too fast. We are halfway through August and football has already started. School will be starting soon and before you know it we will be Christmas shopping. As usual, I'm not ready. I love summer and it passes by so fast. The rain has been so wonderful. Of course, we get the bad with the good. Mosquitoes! It has been hard to be outside with those pesky little things. We just have to be thankful for what we get.

Be thinking of 1:30 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21. It will be a special day at the center. Rhonda Shaw has a really good craft planned for us all. It has to do with magnets and pictures. It will be fun.

There are a lot of movies here that you nice people let me show when we were having movie afternoon. I still have all of these movies. If you left some, please come by and pick them up. Thank you for letting us enjoy them.

Business of the Month: Mi Familia

BY SHANON BIGGERSTAFF

Mi Familia is a family owned and operated restaurant that opened July of 2015.

The restaurant owners are Maria and Felix Venegas.

“As long as we can remember, this has always been a dream of moms. When we were little, she would sit us all down and pretend to be a waitress. She would take our order and would cook whatever it is that we picked” said Maria’s children. “When mom and dad first bought the building, dad wanted it to be a convenience store but mom just wasn’t convinced. Mom was insistent that she wanted to open a restaurant. We all told mom that it was going to be a lot of work but she said it didn’t matter, this was her dream and with God’s help it was all going to work out.”
