Monday was the first official day on the job for new Crockett County DPS sergeant Pete Lozano. This is Sgt. Lozano's first time as an adult to live in a small town, and he is enthusiastic about the prospect. After growing up in San Antonio and being stationed there with the DPS for 13 years and in Houston for eight months, stepping outside at night and not hearing the roar of traffic is a pleasure. The town's turkey flock and deer have also joined the citizens in making him welcome. As a child, Lozano lived on a farm near Big Foot, Tex. Then the family farmed in Colorado for a short time before moving to San Antonio. He spent eight and one-half years in the U. S. Army.
