Students claim academic plaque
Ozona—The Ozona Middle School 6th, 7th and 8th grade students competed in the District 7-2A South Zone UIL Academic Meet on Dec. 6.
The UIL contests encompass all academic subjects and include tests and speaking events. The teachers begin working with the competitors early in the school year.
This year 70 OMS students competed in 17 events and for the first time in a long time, Ozona Middle School came out on top and brought home the District Academic Champion plaque, scoring 988 points, almost 100 points ahead of the runner-up school.
Mrs. Criswell is the OMS UIL Coordinator and the teachers who coach events are: Debby Fricke, Dacie Taylor, Taylor Cervantez, Annie Luna, Alex Valtierra, Jackie Barrera, Deborah Ramon, Heather Claburn, and Nancy Brockman.
