Students win first-place in contest
Ozona—Ozona High School media students received a first-place award in the Association of Texas Photography Instructors (ATPI) 2023 Fall Contest.
The group of Colt Scroggins, Rico Capetillo, Abel Hernandez, Isaac Torres and Sophia Rodriguez won first place in the Advanced Advertisement/PSA Category with their 30-second commercial for Treto’s Tire and Towing Service.
“I am extremely proud of my students. This is their first year in the broadcast class, so to win an award like this is a major accomplishment,” Melissa Perner, OHS teacher and adviser, said. “We are grateful to Treto’s Tire and Towing for allowing us to make a commercial for their business. We appreciate their support, and everyone else’s support for our program.”
The OHS Team beat three Dallas-area 6A high schools in the same category. The ATPI Fall Contest has more than 6,300 entries from 139 schools. The entries came from all over Texas, and other states across the United States.
ATPI, a Texas non-profit organization, works to help photography instructors of all disciplines work to achieve a higher quality of knowledge and teaching of photography. ATPI provides information and resources to teachers and students who work with photography, whether in art, journalism, career and technology, or vocational curriculum areas.
