The Eighth Grade Lions rolled past Junction on 36-0 on Sept. 26 at Lion Stadium.

The Lions scored on offensive and defensive plays to roll to a convincing victory.

After a fumble recovery by Robert Barrera, the offense scored on 48-yard zone read by Dusty Smith with an outstanding block by Exiyan Mendoza that cleared the way. The two-point conversion run from Smith was good and an 8-0 first quarter Lion lead.

After the kickoff, the Eagle offense completed a pass for 35 yards that was fumbled at the Lions’ 35-yard line and was picked up by Smith and returned 65 yards for a touchdown.

Smith was escorted by Mathew Daniels and Chris Ramirez on the return. The two-point conversion was unsuccessful and score stood 14-0 favor of the Lions.

On the ensuing kickoff, Daniels demonstrated excellent tackling skills for the Lions.

The Eagle offense put together a nice drive that was stopped at the Lions’ 24-yard line. The stop was spearheaded by Rigo Treto, Mendoza, and Tad Reynolds.
