Wayne Lee Patterson passed away on September 1, 2019 with his loving wife, Jan, by his side. He was born April 21, 1945 in Hill County Texas to Pat and Lois Patterson.

He attended Abbott High School where he excelled in all sports, especially basketball. He was selected to play on the Texas All Star Team for both basketball and football. The US Army interrupted his collegiate career, when was drafted into the Vietnam Conflict. He was stationed at Fort Meyer in Washington, D.C.

After discharge from the Army, Wayne moved to West Texas where he met and married the love of his life, Jan Kimble. He completed his studies at Angelo State University, earning a Business and Distributive Education degree. He taught 12 years in small West Texas communities including Kermit, Sonora and Llano. Throughout his career he was able to establish strong and successful programs that impacted the future of many of his students. Wayne emphasized “You can always have more than 1 career” and “There is no timeline in achieving your goals.”

Wayne left education to help develop and manage a high-volume sporting goods store, “Hunter’s World.”

Wayne’s favorite pastime, outside of hunting and fishing, was watching and coaching his son’s sports teams and following the Iraan Braves on Friday night.

Wayne is survived by his wife, Jan, his son, Kyle, and his wife Kelly, two granddaughters Cora and Sloan, sisters Anna Wilkey and her husband James, and Joyce Young.

Graveside service will be held Wednesday, September 4, at Cedar Hill Memorial Cemetery at 10:30 am. Arrangements by Kerbow Funeral Home. Online condolences may be made at www.kerbowfuneralhome.com.
