Computer Science wins again, Calculator second, Mathematics third


The Ozona High School Computer Science Team made it three-in-a-row bringing home the Class 2A Championship after competing at the UIL State Academic Meet Friday and Saturday in Austin.

The team of Josh Knaack, Chantz Elliott, Manuel Torralba and Humberto Torralba won their third consecutive state championship, this year with Coach Nate Harris.

Ozona had a total score of 859. Brackett was second with a score of 666, Sabine Pass third with 562, Port Aransas fourth with 440 and Archer City fifth with 335.

Individually, Manuel Torralba is the state champion with a score of 190. Teammate Chantz Elliott was second with a score of 174. Humberto Torralba was sixth with 140. Josh Knaack was 11th with 88.

The same foursome also won second in the Class 2A Calculator Applications competition, with Coach Matt Gutierrez.
