Lions win third consecutive district championship

CHRISTOVAL – The OHS Varsity Lions Track Team won their third consecutive district championship Thursday night at the District 7-2A Meet.

The Lions were headed into Thursday’s final running events in fourth place, 42 points behind first place Winters. Miles was in second and Eldorado was in third.

On Thursday, the Lions made a comeback by scoring 108 points to finish in first, ahead of Winters who finished with 123 points.

“A comeback despite headwinds and an obstacle course placed in the kids’ path. A testimony to heart,” said Coach Kyle Freeman.

Sebastian De La Cruz medaled in four events, including winning the 100-meters, and helping to lead the 1600-meter relay to a second-place finish with teammates Zachary Talamantez, Humberto Torralba and Manuel Torralba.
