William Larry Hensley, of Fredericksburg, Texas, passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at the age of 75. Larry was born to Earl and Ophelia Hensley on August 7, 1943 in Paducah, Texas. He was the younger of two children. After graduating high school, Larry joined the Army in 1961 and was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas and Kaiserslautern, Germany where he was assigned to the armored division as a tanker. After being honorably discharged from the Army in 1964, Larry began a career in law enforcement, serving as a decorated patrolman in several Texas city police departments throughout his 10 year career. Larry then spent the next 25 years in the petroleum industry before retiring and settling in Fredericksburg, Texas with his wife, Linda Hensley, where he was a beloved member of the community. Larry was a Master Mason in Lodge 747 in Ozona, Texas, and a 32nd degree Master Mason in the Suez Temple, San Angelo, Texas. He enjoyed golf, fishing and spending time with his grandchildren. Larry is survived by his wife, Linda Hensley; his daughter, Tondra Harvell; his sons, Richard Hensley, Scott Hensley, Bryan Hensley and Kevin Behrens; his brother and sister-in-law Charles and Jean Hensley; his niece, Paula Hensley; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. His ashes will be interred at Guthrie Cemetery, Guthrie, Texas, next to his mother and father. A memorial to celebrate his life will be held on Thursday, October 18, at 6 p.m. at the Fredericksburg Funeral Home, 2278 S US Highway 87, Fredericksburg, Texas 78624.
