Karen Dianne Webb, 53, of Ozona, Texas passed away Thursday, March 15, 2018 at University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas after a very courageous battle with a sudden and unexpected illness. She was the beloved wife of Kevin Webb, and the two had just recently celebrated 36 years of marriage. Karen was born on September 22, 1964 in Shamrock, Texas. She is the daughter of Edd Campbell, Jr. and Carolyn (Campbell) Smith. She married her husband, Kevin, on March 6, 1982 in Shamrock, Texas and graduated from Jal High School in Jal, New Mexico in 1983. Her daughter Kendra was born in 1984, followed by her son Jonathon Kyle in 1987. In 1989, she and her family relocated from Jal, New Mexico to Bloomfield, New Mexico and Karen worked as an Office Manager and in the school system before leaving the workforce to educate her children from home. It was during this time that Karen attended San Juan College in Farmington, New Mexico, concentrating in early childhood education. In 1997, relocation called again, and Kevin and Karen moved their family to Ozona, Texas. No place had ever felt more like home for the couple and they settled in quickly to what they knew would be their forever home. Both children were graduates from Ozona High School, Kendra in 2002 and Kyle in 2006. Karen worked for nearly 15 years in the private offices of Burl J. Myers, before accepting a position with Crockett County as his Deputy Treasurer. After Mr. Myers’ retirement, Karen ran for election to the Treasurer’s position and won in 2016. Just two weeks ago, Karen was reelected, and was looking forward to the opportunity to continue serving the citizens of Crockett County in her next term. Being the County Treasurer was more than just a job to her and she cared deeply about the county, the community of Ozona and all the people within it. She considered her position as one of the greatest accomplishments of her lifetime and cherished the many friends she had made while working there. Besides her husband, Kevin, she leaves behind her father, Edd Campbell, Jr. of Shamrock, Texas, mother Carolyn Smith of San Angelo, Texas, her sisters, Debbie Bailey and husband Mark of Augusta, Georgia and Brenda Duncan and husband Monte of Midland, Texas, her daughter Kendra Hodges and her husband Anthony of San Angelo, Texas, her grandchildren Kiara, 16, Chastity, 14, Mariah, 11, Anthony Jr., 10, Halo 3, Enovy, 15 months and Draegan, 4 months, and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. She was preceded in death by her son, Jonathon Kyle. The family takes great comfort in knowing that the two of them are now reunited in Heaven. Karen was an incredibly beautiful soul who had a passion for helping others, no matter the task. She spent her free time watching her grandchildren grow, traveling with her husband, working on numerous craft projects and collecting purses and shoes. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 19, at the Crockett County Fair Park Convention Center. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in her honor to the Crockett County Animal Control or the Crockett County Public Library so that others may have the opportunity to share her love of animals and reading.
