Ozona— High school football action continued across West Texas on Friday, Oct. 2, as teams in UIL Class 2A Division I, District 4 continued district play. Sonora, Ozona and Forsan ach earned victories. 

Ozona Lions edge Colorado City Wolves

The Ozona Lions earned a 28–27 road victory over the Colorado City Wolves. The win was Ozona’s first district victory after a Sept. 25 district loss to Forsan.

Colorado City quarterback Ace Mejia passed for 366 yards and four touchdowns and added 46 rushing yards, while David Lara caught seven passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns

Sonora Broncos defeat Christoval Cougars

The Sonora Broncos defeated the Christoval Cougars 40–32 on Friday night in Christoval.

Sonora quarterback Aaron Segura threw for 326 yards and four touchdowns while adding a rushing touchdown. 

Christoval’s Danny Alfaro rushed for 220 yards and four touchdowns on 23 carries. His longest scoring run covered 85 yards. 

The Broncos’ victory extended their winning streak to four games.

Forsan Buffaloes remain undefeated

The Forsan Buffaloes remained undefeated with a 58–16 victory against the Reagan County Owls.

Forsan quarterback Owen Bishop completed 7 of 19 passes for 71 yards and two touchdowns. Ashton Ellis rushed for 144 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries. 

Ballinger prepares for Forsan

Ballinger was not scheduled to play Oct. 2. The Bearcats’ previous game was a Sept. 26 district win at Reagan County, and they next host undefeated Forsan on Friday, Oct. 9.

Looking ahead

Ozona hosts Christoval, while Colorado City travels to Reagan County on Oct. 9.

Sonora does not play on Oct. 9. The Broncos’ next game is an Oct. 16 matchup against Ozona.
