September 16, 1926
The building rush In Ozona is getting down to business with several new brick business houses, the new hotel and the Methodist church rapidly nearing completion. With this activity at its peak, rumors were afloat of several new projects in contemplation, with at least one from outside capital. 
The walls are going up for the one-story brick building being erected for Mrs. Paul Perner. The building is 90x100 feet and will house five firms. Anderson Bros. of El Paso are the contractors. Fire last year destroyed the building located on the site of the new structure now going up. Seventy-five per cent of the plastering has been completed on the new three-story Hotel Ozona and plans are said to be under consideration for the opening November 1.

September 17, 1936
Telephone reports here this morning indicated the city of San Angelo is isolated by high waters occasioned by more torrential rains that fell there and on the watershed of the Concho Rivers last night. Radio reports at noon described immense damage being done by rising waters. The twelve-mile bridge, on the road from Mertzon to San Angelo, had washed out and the Beauregard bridge was going out, the report said. With a considerable part of the town already under water, another three-foot wall of water was reported on the way down at noon. West Texas Utilities officials notified local offices the plant was in danger of going out.

September 19, 1946
A record enrollment of 34 pupils in the kindergarten class has necessitated a division of the class into two sections, 17 pupils attending the morning class from 9 to 12 o’clock and 17 at the afternoon session from 1 to 3, it was announced this week by C.S. Denham, superintendent. The class division arrangement was put into effect Wednesday of this week. The division was made on an age basis, pupils under 5 years and 6 months attending the morning session and those 5 years, 6 months or older going to the afternoon class.

September 13, 1956
Total enrollment in the Ozona schools went over the 900 mark, a new record, this week, enrollment gaining 30 pupils over that for the opening day of schools, Supt. L. B. T. Sikes reported. The total for all schools yesterday was 905 pupils. The largest gain in enrollment was in the South Elementary, which has added 12 since the opening day.

ANOTHER SAFE RIP-OFF And again B C Automotive was the victim. The vandals didn’t get anything of value, since the safe was empty, but they must have worked half the night pounding the bottom out of this old safe. It was discovered when they opened up Friday morning.
