NFIB members discuss small business priorities

San Angelo — The National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB) hosted a roundtable discussion with U.S. Rep. August Pfluger, R-San Angelo, last week, giving local small business owners a chance to raise concerns on tax policy and financial regulations.

The event was held at The Original Henry's, a San Angelo restaurant and NFIB member business.

Members discussed several priorities with Pfluger, including the small business tax deduction, a push to repeal the Corporate Transparency Act, and Main Street support for the Credit Card Competition Act.

NFIB State Director Jeff Burdett said the roundtable gave members a chance to thank Pfluger for supporting a permanent 20% small business tax deduction.

“It was great to have Rep. Pfluger here to meet with our members,” Burdett said. “Rep. Pfluger understands the challenges small business owners face and consistently stands up for Main Street. Our members were grateful for the opportunity to thank Rep. Pfluger for his support in making the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent. His vote helped stop a massive tax hike on small businesses, providing long-term tax certainty.”
