Announcement is made in this issue of The Stockman by J. R Kersey, manager of the Ozona and Palace Theatres, of a raise in admission prices back to the 15 and 35 cent level which had prevailed here prior to six months ago. The raise in admission prices from 10 and 25 cents to 15 and 35 cents will become effective Sunday, August 2. Experimenting over the six months period with the lower price scale convinced the theatre manager, his announcement said, that the show could not be operated successfully at that price level and confronted with the alternative of closing the show or raising the admission prices to remain in business, the latter course was decided upon.

A net raise of 55 cents on the $100 valuation in the combined county and school tax rate for 1946 will be reflected in the tax bills of Crockett County property owners at tax paying time next fall. A net hike of 45 cents in the taxes for support of the schools and of 10 cents for county purposes was made when the- Commissioner Court set levies for the year at its July meeting.

Two teenage sailors, both AWOL from their Naval stations, were arrested here last week by Sheriff V. O. Earnest in connection with a second burglary of the Triangle Drive-In Theatre concession stand. The boys, both 17 years old, have been bound over to await action of the grand jury.

Ozonans expect a big week next week as out of town visitors begin to arrive for the 9th Annual Junior Rodeo, sponsored by the Ozona Lions Club. Being the only AJRA approved junior rodeo on the circuit for this particular weekend, many contestants are expected and with the new arena, chutes and pens, the rodeo will be bigger and better than ever. Opening night of the three-day rodeo will be next Thursday night. Adding to the excitement will be bareback bronc riding, a new event this year. There will be twice as many calves this year, assuring each participant a fresh active calf.
