Ozona’s first big rodeo and celebration under the management of the Celebration Association is a thing of the past, the last of the three-day celebrating having been brought to a close last Saturday night with a big dance. The celebration had been advertised far and wide for several months previous to the chosen dates, and the invitation, “Meet West Texas in Ozona, July 1, 2 and 3,” was taken advantage of by some seven or eight thousand individuals who came prepared for a period of real enjoyment. Housing facilities for such a throng were not available and many tents and open camps were made use of by visitors.

Crockett Country’s annual Rambouillet sheep sale, designated this year as the official Texas Centennial Ram Sale, again held its position of registering the highest average sale prices of any sale in the United States, and excepting the boom years of 1928 and 1929, registered the highest prices of any local sale since the event was inaugurated in 1926. The top price of the three-day auction was $425, paid by Wiley Green of San Angelo for a registered Rambouillet ram from the flock of Victor Pierce of Ozona.

Ozona children and young people resumed their normal way of life Monday of this week swimming, going to parties and picture shows after a period of six weeks enforced abstinence because of the polio outbreak. The polio ban was lifted Monday morning, two weeks after the development of the third case of the disease to originate here this summer. The three cases, two children of Mr. and Mrs. Miller Robison and the young daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sid Millspaugh Jr., developed at two weeks intervals, spreading the local ban on youth gatherings over a six week period.
