One Act Play advances to regionals
Ozona—The Ozona High School One Act Play cast and crew are continuing a successful run, advancing to regional competition after strong performances at both district and area contests.
The group first competed at the district level in Big Lake with its production of “Eluvium,” advancing alongside Forsan and Christoval to the bi-district round held in Ballinger on April 2.
Several students earned individual recognition during the early rounds of competition. Jacqueline Hernandez was named to the All-Star Crew, while Kellen Norrell received honorable mention All-Star Cast. Teslynn Preston earned All-Star Cast honors, and Braden Claburn was named Best Performer.
Momentum continued at the area contest in Denver City on April 10, where Ozona once again collected multiple honors.
Maria Damian received All-Star Crew recognition, and Hailey Larson was named honorable mention All-Star Cast. Preston and Norrell both earned All-Star Cast distinctions, while Claburn was again recognized as a top performer.
With the advancement, Ozona’s One Act Play program now ranks among the top 24 schools in the state and will compete at the regional contest at Canyon Randall High School in Amarillo on April 25.
The regional lineup will feature performances from Ropes High School, New Home High School, Panhandle High School, Ozona High School, Sudan High School and Christoval High School. Ozona will perform “Eluvium” as part of that schedule.
Admission fees may be charged at the door for those planning to attend the regional contest.
As the cast prepares for its next performance, the group carries forward a string of accolades and the opportunity to advance even further in UIL competition.
A healthy Crockett County requires great community news.
