Crockett County—Crockett County 4-H members turned in an impressive performance at the District 6 Spring Ag Day, where youth from across the region gathered for a day of hands-on learning, friendly competition and skill-building.

Competing in both the Horse Judging Contest and the Wildlife Challenge, local participants demonstrated dedication, preparation and a strong commitment to the 4-H motto of learning by doing.

Strong showing in horse judging

The Crockett County Horse Judging team delivered standout results across multiple divisions.

Grey Pierce earned top honors as first-place junior individual, while Luke Stuart secured first place in the intermediate division. In the senior division, Justin Stuart and Kaylee Magness led a dominant showing that earned both competitors advancement to the state Horse Judging Contest.

Magness claimed first-place high individual honors, topping the senior division, while Stuart placed third overall. Magness also continued her successful season with a second-place finish at the Sul Ross Invitational.

As a team, Crockett County finished second overall, reflecting strong preparation, teamwork and consistent performance throughout the contest.

Behind the team’s success is coach Sunny Jon Bailey, whose leadership and dedication have helped shape confident and capable competitors.

Her countless hours of preparation and guidance have created opportunities for local youth to develop skills and represent Crockett County at a high level.

Wildlife team gains valuable experience

Crockett County was represented in the Wildlife Challenge by Holden Goedrich, Abel Deville and Autumn Ramsey.

Although the team did not place this year, participants gained valuable experience and took part in the hands-on learning opportunities that are a hallmark of Spring Ag Day.

Coach Jordan Goedrich was recognized for his support and encouragement, helping guide students through the challenges of the contest while building their knowledge and confidence.

Learning beyond the competition

District 6 Spring Ag Day once again highlighted the spirit of 4-H, emphasizing growth, perseverance and the importance of stepping outside one’s comfort zone.

For Crockett County participants, the event was an opportunity to learn, improve and represent their community with pride.
