Ozona—The Crockett County Sheriff’s Office responded to a variety of incidents last week, including traffic accidents, welfare checks, and suspicious activity.

Calls and Complaints
During the week of Jan. 19–25, deputies handled:

  • Traffic stops: 106

  • Minor/major accidents: 5

  • Reckless driving/speeding complaints: 4

  • 911 medical/fire calls: 8

  • Civil complaints: 2

  • Civil documents served: 4

  • Livestock/wild/domestic animal complaints: 1

  • Alarms: 1

  • Motorist assists/locked vehicles: 4

  • Juvenile/school incidents: 0

Notable Incidents

  • Vehicle and Traffic: Deputies were dispatched multiple times to Interstate 10 and State Highway 163 for reckless drivers and minor crashes. Several motorists received assistance after becoming stranded on the highway.

  • Suspicious Activity: Officers responded to multiple reports of suspicious vehicles and individuals on Avenue E, Avenue D, Llano Street, and Angus Street.

  • Welfare Checks: Deputies conducted welfare checks across the county, including on Sheffield Road, Interstate 10, and Santa Anna Street.

  • Thefts and Trespassing: Incidents included identity theft on State Highway 163, a theft on Co. Rd. 101, and criminal trespassing on 11th Street.

  • Fires: The fire department assisted deputies on Ramos Street, Avenue F, and State Highway 137.

Arrest

  • Angel Castillo Saldana, of Saint Paul, Minnesota, was arrested Jan. 20 for reckless driving. Saldana was arraigned, made bond, and released.
