Construction of a fountain and pool as a decorative piece in Ozona’s downtown park, in keeping with the state-wide Centennial beautification program, will be undertaken by the Ozona Woman’s Club in the near future. The plan was approved by the club during the business session at its regular meeting and program Tuesday afternoon at the home of Mrs. N.W. Graham. A committee from the organization has been placed in charge of carrying out the project.

Development of the Ozona Airport and expansion of commercial flying operations from the field is in the offing with settlement of lease terms under which E. R. Kinser, operating as the Kinser Flying Service, will lease the field and make the necessary improvements for widespread use of the facilities. Among the first improvement planned for the field, Mr. Kinser says, is the construction of a hangar large enough to house four planes. Hangar space will be available to house planes which Mr. Kinser will have in operation from the field, for charter service and for instruction of student flyers, and any privately owned planes based at the field. Additional hangar space is contemplated as the demand rises.

It was an accident that sent Crockett County’s bachelor judge to the hospital for treatment of a ruptured blood vessel in his eye. But when crowded conditions in the hospital made it necessary for him to be bedded down in the maternity ward, it was a planned prank on the part of the hospital nurses and staff to arrange a stork shower in his honor. Pink and blue were the predominating colors as hospital staff members and some hastily summoned friends gathered to decorate the judge's room in little bootees, diapers, teething rings, rattles and all the familiar dainties commonly associated with such a “condition.” “I guess I make history as the first bachelor ever to get a baby shower,” the judge commented.

One of the biggest projects ever undertaken by the Ozona Lions Club was completed the early part of this week and termed a success. Several months ago it was brought to the attention of the club that they might be able to help a little seven year-old girl who was completely unable to function because of a case of badly crossed eyes. She was fitted with glasses, but after a month or so it became apparent that they were of little value, if any. After an examination by a San Angelo ophthalmologist, an operation was indicated. The child, little Sandra Fielder, daughter of Mrs. Edna Fielder, underwent surgery last week on both eyes. She returned home this week and as far as doctors can tell this soon after surgery, she will be able to function normally with full vision. The entire cost was shouldered by the Ozona Lions Club.
