In the hope that Texas Centennial year might inspire students to seek a deeper knowledge of the lore of their own state, a special “Texas History Corner” has been opened in the library of the Ozona High School. Collection of newest articles and volumes on Texas history and folk lore topics is in progress, with a number of valuable additions made recently.

The young New Year of 1956 seems destined to bring continued prosperity to Ozona and Crockett County, at least to Ozona business interests, and, if it also brings another good year of moisture, may well put area ranchmen on the way to recovering from the ravages of many years of drought, despite the prospect for little if any improvement in prices for ranch products. With at least two huge building projects in the offering for the new year, the construction of a 2 1/2 million dollar aircraft control and warning center for the U.S. Air Force five miles east of Ozona, and the possible start of construction of the Johnson Draw watershed control plan, the prospect of a continued influx of new people to Ozona will be welcomed by business firms. And the radar installation, when finally completed, will bring an additional 200 men, many of them with families, and a monthly payroll of around $30,000 to the community.
