December 03, 2025
Ozona—Ozona rancher Paul Perner III has been re-elected to represent Subdivision 5 on the Crockett County Soil and Water Conservation District #235 Board of Directors, where he will continue to serve as chairman.
Perner is a lifelong resident of Crockett County and operates a ranch along the Pecos River. In addition to his role with the soil and water district, he also serves on the Crockett County Groundwater Conservation District board of directors, giving him a key voice in local resource management.
The Crockett County SWCD, headquartered at 201-D 11th St. in the NRCS/USDA building, is a political subdivision of the state and is divided into five subdivisions, each represented by an elected director. The district’s mission is to provide technical, financial and educational resources to landowners and operators so they can better conserve soil, water and related natural resources on the lands they own or manage.
As a director and chairman, Perner will continue helping district cooperators plan and implement conservation programs tailored to Crockett County’s rangeland, farming and watershed needs.
Other members of the Board of Directors include Jack Baggett, vice chairman; Pleas Childress, secretary; and directors Ira Childress and Ty Allen.
Regular board meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month at 2 p.m. in the NRCS/USDA building at 201 11th St. The meetings are open to the public.
