Evacuation of 180 school children from a three-story building in fifty seconds may or may not be something of a record, but it least is getting them into the open air in somewhat of a hurry. That was the recorded time that took to evacuate the elementary school building here yesterday in the first fire drill of that department, according to Gerald E. Williams, principal, reporting to Supt. C. S. Denham.

Forty family type residence houses, in addition to the two big dormitories originally contemplated, will be built at the site of the radar aircraft control station to be built for the Air Defense Command, U. S. Air Force, five miles east of Ozona on the Davidson ranch, it was learned here this week. A Colonel Phillips, from Sweetwater, and a Col. Cole of Oklahoma City, both Air Force officers and in charge of planning the radar station installation here, were visitors to Ozona last weekend. They conferred with Chas. E. Davidson, Jr., on whose ranch the station will be located. The two Air Force officers told Mr. Davidson that the government will seek to purchase an additional plot of land adjoining the entrance road to the radar site as a location for the 40 residences to house married personnel at the base. These 40 houses will not be sufficient to take care of all married personnel, they said, the others probably to live in Ozona.
