Library to host student art show, annual meeting

The Friends of the Crockett County Public Library is excited to present “One Brick at A Time: A Collection of Original Lego Creations.” This art show will spotlight the creativity of Crockett County youth who participate in CCPL’s Take-It-Easy-Tuesday Lego Club.
Students will be present to show and discuss their imaginative and architectural designs. The children’s exhibit will be held at 6 p.m. at the Library (1201 Ave. G, Ozona) on Tuesday, Oct. 10 immediately following a brief annual meeting of the Friends of the Library. Refreshments will be served.
The Friends of the Library (FOL) is vital to the Crockett County community. This group shoulders responsibility for all aspects of CCPL’s programming by donating to the library both voluntarily and financially. FOL members are supportive by generously giving financially, spending countless hours in person volunteering and fundraising and others simply submit their dues annually. All these efforts go to expand our community’s literary, cultural and educational footprint. Any level of monetary or in-person help is appreciated and worthwhile, and anyone can be a FOL member. Annual memberships are $20 for an individual, $25 per family, and $50 for organizations and businesses.
Thanks to Friends of the Library, CCPL is able to provide great summer reading programs, bring in a variety of presenters and authors and host the annual Tacos and Telescopes and Night on the Town events. FOL also helps supply our reading contest prizes every summer and sponsors the weekly Lego club. This year, FOL will have a table at Ozona’s Touch-a-Truck event on Saturday, Oct. 7, and will provide a fun activity for kids to complete and take home. Free children’s books will also be given out that day.
