The leader is a member of the senior class and her assistant is a junior in high school. Mill Mildred North has been elected faculty sponsor. About forty are in the girl’s organization this year and drilling has already begun for the year’s stunt activities. New uniforms for the pep unit are being considered.

As a means of avoiding a possible fatal accident in the downtown section of Ozona in the post war period of increased traffic, the Commissioners Court in session this week authorized an investigation into the advisability and cost of installing traffic lights at downtown intersections. A signal light controlling traffic will be installed at the intersection of highways 163 and 290 in the business section. This is considered one of the most dangerous corners in the city, through traffic speeding along highway 290, with ordinary local traffic creating a hazard. Possible installation of other lights at intersections east and west of this corner and in the vicinity of the high school are also under consideration.

Continuing outbreaks of vandalism in the lobby of the Ozona post office during nighttime closing hours, has prompted Postmaster Floyd Hokit to enlist the law’s protection and to ask public cooperation in stopping the practice. There has been tinkering with post office box locks and damage to some of them, damage to lobby furnishings and penciled vulgarity on the office bulletin boards, the postmaster said. The sheriff’s department has been alerted to the situation and asked to help the post office staff prevent loitering in the lobby, forbidden under government regulations.
