Crockett County official attends statewide conference

September 10, 2025

Austin—Crockett County Judge Frank Tambunga was among more than 900 county officials from across Texas who attended the Texas Association of Counties’ (TAC) 2025 Legislative Conference, held Aug. 27-29 in Austin.

The annual three-day event, the largest in Texas focused on county government, brought together local leaders, legislators and policy experts to discuss key outcomes of the 89th Texas Legislature and their impact on counties and local taxpayers.

Staying current on legislative changes is essential to better serving the people of Crockett County, said Judge Tambunga. “This conference equips us with the information and tools to do just that.” Also attending virtually were Crockett County Commissioners Wesley Bean and GL Bunger

The conference opened with a keynote address from former U.S. Rep. Kent R. Hance, who is also a former state senator, chancellor emeritus of the Texas Tech University System and host of “The Best Storyteller in Texas” podcast. With his signature blend of humor and insight, Hance set the stage for sessions on pressing topics such as property tax reform, election administration, and emergency management and disaster recovery.

“TAC’s Legislative Conference offers an invaluable opportunity for county officials to share knowledge and solutions,” Susan M. Redford, TAC executive director, said. “We are dedicated to supporting our counties as they navigate challenges and advocate for their communities.”
