Hazel “Arlene” Clayton

Hazel “Arlene” Clayton, 87, passed away peacefully on July 17,2025 in the Crockett County Care Center in Ozona. She was born on July 24, 1937, in Live Oak, Texas to Zeral Delvin and Florence Hazel Holland. She met and married Frank Hill, Sr. in 1956 in Monahans, Texas, where they had three children: Frank Wilson Hill, Jr., Zeral Ray Hill, and Jeanette Hill. They moved to Ozona in 1965, where she lived until her death. 

After their divorce, Arlene met the love of her life, Mike Clayton. They married in 1980, started their ranching legacy, and traveled the world together. Arlene loved the ranching business and continued running the Clayton ranch after Mike’s passing in 1995. Arlene continued her traveling adventures with her “Taylor Box Girlfriends". Arlene was a lifelong member of Ozona Garden Club, and Ozona Women's Forums.   

Arlene is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Mike, her two sisters: Loretta and Lenora, brother Delvin, and a son-in-law, Wade. Arlene is also preceded in death by two of her loving grandsons: Michael Ray and Jonathan Ray. 

Arlene is survived by her 3 children: Ray (Sheri) of Ozona, Wilson (Sabra) of Monahans, Jeanette (Wade) Smith of Monahans, as well as 5 grandchildren: Bryan Smith of Monahans, Steven (Bo) Hill of Missouri, Kadye (Chris) Eubanks of Midland, Shelby Hill of Odessa, Daphne (Andrew) Wells of Abilene, MJ Roberts of Florida, and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. 

Visitation will be Wednesday, July 23rd from 6 - 9 p.m. at Preddy Funeral Home. Services will be Thursday, July 24th at 11 a.m. at the Methodist Church in Ozona with burial to follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ray Hill, Wilson Hill, Chris Eubanks, Jonathan Gaona, Wyatt Hill, John Clayton Childress, and Louis Bunger. Funeral arrangements done by Preddy Funeral Home.
