Former Lady Lions Amber Tarr has received another honor, this one coming from fans.

Tarr has been named to the All-Century Girls Basketball Team, as part of the UIL's Centennial Celebration.

Fans cast more than 7,400 votes for their favorite girls’ basketball players in Texas high school history.

"It's definitely an honor," said Tarr, who now lives in Houston. "I'm very appreciative to the fans that voted."

Growing up watching the State Girls Basketball Tournament, Tarr said she was just honored to be placed on the list of nominees.

"It reminds me of the good, old days when were all there in Ozona and I was playing with my teammates," Tarr said. "It's really my teammates that got us to those state tournaments."

Tarr is a 1998 graduate of Ozona High School.

She was a member of the 94-95 and 95-96 state champion teams, as well as the 97-98 state runner-up team.

During her high school career, she received many honors including four-time District and State MVP, member of All-State team for four years, named 2A Player of the Year as a senior, recipient of TABC's 1998 Miss Basketball, averaged 7.5 points and 8.5 rebounds her junior season and two-time Standard Times All-West Texas MVP.

During her college career, Tarr played for the Texas Tech Lady Raiders.

Tarr's parents, Stephen and Pam Tarr, currently live in Midland.
